Great Basin National Park is an American national park located in White Pine County in east-central Nevada, and was established in 1986. It is 77,180 acres, and situated in the hydrographic Great Basin which is a 200,000 square mile area that drains internally.
Great Basin NP has some of the oldest trees in the world, Bristle Cone Pines. Great Basin National Park is home to Nevada’s longest cave system - the Lehman Caves. While you’re there, taking a tour of the caves is simply a must. Cave Tours are available for reservation up to 30 days in advance. Do not anticipate getting a tour without a reservation, especially during the summer.
The total driving distance from Ely to Great Basin National Park is 82 miles. Ely is 241 miles north of Las Vegas.
From the 13,063-foot summit of Wheeler Peak, to the sage-covered foothills, Great Basin National Park hosts a sample of the incredible diversity of the larger Great Basin region. Come and partake, bask in the darkest of night skies, and explore mysterious subterranean passages. There's a whole lot more than just desert here!

Most of the Park's main attractions are located near the main entrance. Lehman caves and Wheeler Peak are the most visited and you'll likely be spending your time here too.
